Communication is based on the scientific phenomenon of tangled quanta. Ideally, between a pair of quanta there should not be any other separating object, not even any other particle. If a particle flies at the moment of coupling between the quanta, then the channel no longer has the required level of protection.
The very essence of quantum encrypted communication is almost identical except for the information transfer system. First, a special encryption key is created. Then the message is encrypted, then you need to quickly transfer the message itself and the key. The transmission process itself is limited in time, it is necessary to transmit so quickly, while there is not a single obstacle to the movement of a quantum of light. You should not think that this channel is both secret and broadband, everything works but the bandwidth of the channel is still very low, in just 285 seconds it was possible to transfer only one byte of information in encrypted form. It is not difficult to calculate the information transfer rate on such a closed communication channel - 0.12 bit / s.
